The Rebuild of New Ignition Module

My first prototype was using the GM HEI module. The black box contains the HEI module, somewhat a simple plastic case.

Now I started tinkering the Toyota Igniter from a 4 cylinder engine, namely the 1.6 blacktop corolla. I've checked the module if it was up to good health with the multi-meter, and yes it was in top condition. I also bought a very cheap used ignition coil good old canister style that was said to produce 40,000V from the breaker yard shop. It fired up eventually but bobbing all the way with nonsense idling. I found out that the igniter wasn't suitable to be use for 6 cylinder purposes. The trigger signal was weak, very weak to be use for 6 cylinders and ONLY suitable for 4 cylinders. Sigh....

So, I had to search for other options.
I've also managed to find in the boxes of the car parts room in the house, my old cam angle sensor distributor with the code KF01. This distributor is just a simple distributor with no built-in ignition coil.

I've also did the terminal socket conversion from the original KFZE's 6 pins KF34 disty to KLDE's 4 pins KF01 disty and installed it to the engine.

The ignition coil setup was like something out of this world hahaha

Still not satisfied with the result, I visited the breaker yard shop again and purchased the RX7 FC3S coil with igniter, and did some thorough studying of the thing.

I also did a high voltage relay driven ignition coil system, just in case I would like some extra strong spark from the proven RX7 coil.

What a mess I did to get those ignition setup hahahaha

I did a few ignition module diagram just to make sure I won't forget the setup in the future. It might become handy if they really work. Maybe it could be THE setup that I need to fire the SL again.

By the way, I'm also working on the coil-on-plug setup for my SL, only if I've received my long awaited budget.

Tomorrow will be a new day for me to attempt the cranking of my SoloMolo Lantis.
I'll update the progress later on.

My Poor SoloMolo Lantis

Well I've been busy with my investment consultancy job and left the Solomolo Lantis (SL) to oblivion...

Now the RX-8 need a replacement engine with sohn adapter etc., and with the Suzuki Swift waiting for the engine to condemn, I've no choice but to fire up the SL once again.

After more than 2 years dormant at the car park outside of my apartment compound, I've decided to renew the insurance & road tax of the humble car. It took me quite sometimes to fired it again (more than a week), juggling my time with work, daughter & whateva...

The SL has a good engine but due to a long period of time without ever cranking up the engine, a family of roden rat had occupied the engine bay! So, it's a tough time for me to remember back what I did to the SL and to troubleshoot it.

I'm quite happy when I bought a brand new DIN55 Maintenance Free battery and the engine crank. But it has taken its toll as the sound of the engine was not well, like a few cylinders of the V6 won't fire up as normal. So, every night I warmed the engine patiently, for about a couple of weeks until the engine was back to normal idling & revving up to 7800-8000 rpm max. Thanks to the GM High Energy Ignition (HEI) module and an external coil, this thing happened.

After a day at the Puspakom (a private vehicle inspection service for RMV dept), I got my SL and felt happy and joy for the first time with her since 2014. But the happiness didn't last long though... She suddenly halted & the engine died abruptly. Lucky for me it wasn't on the highway or in the middle of the busy road. Just cruising back to my place at that time.

That was the time I felt like I didn't know anything about cars & engine. I felt blank in my mind. I got out and took a deep deep deep deep breath and think, what could possibly go wrong...

I suspected the HEI module giving me trouble. I crank it back with cadence style accelerator and it fired up again, till I arrived at the shop lot parking spot, and it died again... permanently.

And I decided again to rebuild the ignition module & coils

19 March, 2014

After a year of underdog reputation, with basic setup that secure some podium finishes; winning is not the main reasons for the Solomolo Lantis 323F.

By far, she made me proud of her awards & achievements in 2013.

- The Most Ugliest Lantis in Sports Lantisan United Owners Club Malaysia (SLUOCM) 2013 Gathering Celebration
- The Best Windows & Doors in Sports Lantisan United Owners Club Malaysia (SLUOCM) 2013 Gathering Celebration
- 2nd Place Car Component Test (CCT) NA in Killerbees Trackday Racing Invitation 2013
- 2nd Place Car Component Test (CCT) Best of The Best Turbo & NA in Killerbees Trackday Racing Invitation 2013

She also involved in charity work such as lending her to friends that send their Lantises to my panel workshop, friends that don't have any other means of transport but only Lantis. Friends in the SLUOCM.

But for now, she was being forced to retire as her involvement in a road accident induced by heavy downpour of the rain, driven by a friend that was on his way to fetch his car at the panel workshop.

Well, tough luck maybe.... Back to workshop again for some insurance claim & rebuilding her back.

The Rebirth of Solomolo Lantis

Some of the photos I've taken

After this, I need to do Puspakom inspections as the roadtax expired august 2010 hahaha.
And I'll have to do the transfer of car ownership too.
Then I'll got to take care of the roof...if the's a cat, it can play golf on top of it hahaha
I wonder how much is the sunroof these days eh....

Trying to get one of this sexy looking aerofoil or spoiler many might say it in Malaysia.

The Rebirth of Solomolo Lantis

Now that I've finished transplanting the KFZE V6 engine, it's time to tidy up the mess inside the car.
In order to do so, as usual, I've to travel from Cheras to the workshop at Subang Jaya SS14 every free time that I have.

Normally in one week I have to allocate my time from 2pm to 5pm, which on every Tuesday, a no workshop day because at night on that day, I have to attend my weekly class of Univest Group for unit trust consultants. The class is organize specially for the members of that group to hyphen up our knowledge in this industry. It's also a get together class which the members share any latest info about signs of the share market movement.

Yes..... I'm a unit trust investment consultant for the leading Number One unit trust company in Malaysia. I think people must have the awareness to make their money 'work' for them, and not making the habit purposely only 'working for money' or work to get money. We have to diversify our money growth, instead of leaving your money in a savings account or fixed deposit account which gives us very very minimal profits every year.

Stage 3 Racing Clutch aka Semi-Racing Clutch.
8 pucks clutch plate with carbon ceramics brake button pads.
The carbon ceramic is a heavy duty material that can withstand extreme heat resistant when we step on & release the clutch lever. The action is instantaneous & with very-very minimal delay due to mili-seconds slippage by the carbon ceramics clutch plate, compared to what we've usually experiencing with the normal organic clutch plate.

Anyway, I've finally manage to pay the manufacturer after a long delay due to rolling of funds.
Now it's time to install the long awaited clutch set that hinders the progress of the conversion.

I'm a very happy person

06 July, 2012

I just bought a halfcut of Lantis 323f V6-KFZE engine...
Not that excited coz I've drove one for 10 years plus...
Expensive nowadays though...

I will update the photos for your viewing later...& soonest.

(Above) This still photo showed the engine was working well inside the halfcut body & it is idling...

(Above) The mileage were coool man!!! Only 60 over thousand kilometres only dude!!!

(Above) The moment the hood popped, I was smiling coz the spark plug is an after market blue coloured cable... but I was wondering if the cables were from gud brand or some 'lauya' cipan brand...?

(Above) Now I know the brand of the cables..hehehehe
